On the old blog I had a running history of all the Google pumping done on Matt Drudge’s Drudge Report. At the time, it was the most heavily cited company in the history of the site (Enron was 2nd) and pulling away like a young Seabiscuit. I stopped updating it because, quite frankly, it was impossible for me to keep up with the Drudge-Google Lovefest and get anything else done. I’d be curious to know how much GOOG Matt owns.
It’s pretty odd that Matt was pretty quiet about Google (only 2 references in the Archive) until the IPO and then about 250 headline references post-IPO. Of those 250 post-IPO headlines, the tone is eerily similar to the stock-pumping email SPAMs I get every day. It’s a unique flavor of enthusiasm Drudge has for Google and only Google.
If anyone else can find another publicly traded company that receives anywhere near as much hype from Drudge, I’d be willing to dismiss this whole theory. The fact that the 2nd most referenced company I could find in the archives was Enron only lends a weird validation to The Matt Drudge Capital Markets Effect…

I’m sorry you don’t understand Drudge’s actual opinions on Google. He actually thinks Google is way overpriced. He thinks Jim Cramer is nuts for convincing people to put too much money into it. He is very critical of Google on his Sunday night radio show. Drudge posts the stories because it is a good story to follow. Drudge also posts pro global warming articles, yet he doesn’t believe humans did it.
So, when you read Drudge, know that he posts articles because they are interesting, not because he believes them.
You definitely don’t listen to Drudge on Sunday night. Have you ever googled Drudge? Usually Drudge retort is the first thing to come up. As far as google images…it’s more of the usual gay baiting from the left.
Matt has said he can’t stand google and constantly criticizes their hypocritical stance on the environment while flying in their luxurious leer jets.
