As much as it pains me, I also owe Jason Calacanis a public apology. In one of my recent posts, I probably crossed a line in reference to him. He sent me an email and I agreed that it was kind of a dickmove on my part. JC and I are probably polar opposites about all things Internet, but on that he was right and I was wrong.
I don’t get, what did we, as SEOs win?
Calcanis gives our industry a black eye and paints us all as a bunch of morons, and in return we give him tons of free links, free consulting, and a nice 21% bump in search engine referrals?
Oh yeah, and all this without so much as a mea culpa from the guy.
If that’s victory, what does losing look like?
Instead of looking for public acclaim the SEOs of the world might want to think about maximizing their returns before the rest of the world wakes up, “legitimizes” the space and starts to seriously thin out your margins.
Gotta agree Jason. I was embarrassed for Neil when I saw him sucking up to Jason even after he helped Jason and Jason was still being a jerk.
Why would you suck up to someone who was calling your work shit unless there was something else going on?
Well the reason is simple…Neil wanted to prove to Jason that what he said was “BS”..but there are very few people who have the courage to accept the truth!
And Jason here is not that courageous!
Neil wanted to prove that SEO is not BS to what JC called BS…and he did it!
